Happy Happy Happy new year dear family from my family and I!
Most people by now have already written their new year’s resolutions or are in the process of drafting them. Have I written mine yet? No, a conscious decision I made as 2017 came to an end.
Most times we plan and write down New Year’s resolutions with a focus of having achieved all our plans and goals at a particular time of our desire. Mostly, by the end of the year.
What I have found to be interesting is, although we pray and commit our plans and goals to God in prayer, we fail to actually ask God “Father are these your plans for me in this new year?”
“Father are these your plans for me in this new year?”
As the year comes to an end with sometimes most of our resolutions not yet achieved we fold our fists to God and ask “Why?”
We always forget that though we plan and make resolutions for ourselves, it does not mean that was God’s plan for us in that season, period or year.
Proverbs 16:1 “The plans of the heart belong to man, But God has the final say.”
You can imagine how with each new year Abraham and Sarah wrote in their resolutions to have a baby and the disappointment they had each year that passed with no child in sight. Sarah is to be forgiven when she laughed (Having over heard the conversation that she would conceive). It was unbelievable and probably a dream she had given up on already.
So though we make plans and have desires, if in that season or year they don’t come to pass, don’t be dismayed or discouraged.
It may not have happened as you desired it to but in God’s time, which is perfect they will come to pass. Something that always baffles my human mind.
Does it mean we should give up on writing our goals, resolutions, and visions all together? NO. A big No.
Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”
Habakkuk 2 :2-3 “And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
It is in Habakkuk 2:2-3 I found an understanding I had not had before, that our visions are set for an appointed time (God’s time) though it may seem to delay,to wait for it for it will surely come to pass.
As we begin a new glorious year, don’t be dismayed because some of your resolutions, goals and visions have not yet come to pass. If God is making you wait, you can be rest assured He is working in you before He grants you that which you have been waiting for.
Don’t lose heart, just remember God’s time is not ours .He is not early neither late. He is always on time making everything beautiful.
God bless you all and I pray you all a year full of God’s favour and mercy.
Thank you for all your support.
