MIND GAMES

Never in the world has there been a war tougher than the one of the mind. It is vicious, calculated and determined. The worst quality is its subtle nature. It’s like it’s not really there but it is. Its silent nature creeps up on you slowly and pounces on you when you least expect it. The ambush usually catches you when the damage is already done. The truth is when you have the mind of someone, you possess the key to make or break their whole being. If you lose the war of the mind, then you have lost yourself. This is a story of the world’s most dangerous mind gamer.

Mind games to our world are not foreign and we define them as “A series of deliberate actions or responses planned for psychological effect on another, typically for amusement or competitive advantage.” We experience mind games every day at work, at home, in relationships and in everyday politics amongst our politicians. We all have been guilty of using this tactic at one time or another and even seen small children perfect this art. Mind games are not all that bad and for whatever reason they are used, the motive remains to be the epitome of the game.

If we were to take a poll and rank the best mind gamers in our society we would surely get some “successful” men and women in this area. But wait are they really the best mind gamers in our society? If you ask me for one to be declared a winner, one must never tire at it, never cease playing, be determined to pursue the game on a daily basis and remain vigilant .If we put it like this, the task becomes more than daunting and many of would have to disqualify themselves as we all do get tired of the game sometimes. None of us really intend to push it that far.

“Then who is the world’s most dangerous mind gamer?” You ask. We all have met him already. They call him the destroyer, stealer and killer in the game. None has come close to his record. He lives to play the game and tired was never featured in his dictionary. He has more than enough experience in the game. His target is not specific but everyone. He plays with your mind on a daily basis even when you don’t want to play. He is so good his voice sounds just like yours and is as convincing. He is the most convincing creature. Most if not all have taken his word for truth.

See when humans play, their intention is basically for amusement, a jog of the mind or competitive advantage. Well, the world’s best mind gamer’s intention is just as his motive suggests. His tactic is the use of lies on the victim. He will usually present the lie to you in a paper that is almost identical to the truth. If you are not keen you will believe it is the truth.

He tells you each and every single moment of your lives “you are not good enough, you will never make it, who can love you, you are stupid, you will never pass that exam, you are pathetic, you are everything you did in your past once a prostitute always is, no future for you, you are so fat and ugly, you have to be drug addict to be accepted by your friends, just do it, it won’t even hurt, you don’t know what you are missing, you will never get out of poverty; prostitution; slavery; bad marriage, accept it and move on, you deserve less, he beats you because he loves you, yes yes the grass is greener on the other side, marriage is old fashioned an affair is the new trend to be cool ,no one will ever know you took the money, this Christians and their annoying testimonies right? Kill them all the world will be a better place without them, yes she always thinks she is better than everyone else, serves her right, cancer, you are going to die”………………It goes on for so long you start to believe it and expressions like “I cannot make it” are uttered.

Just when you thought life could not get worse the world’s best gamer shifts gears and employs a new tactic called condemnation. Irony of life is once you give in to his lies, he will be quick to turn around and remind you that you are a failure, weak, gullible, easy to manipulate, were never tong enough against him not once or twice but every day.

So it becomes a constant battle between his lies and his condemnation. If you think I am lying, how many people have committed suicide? How many people live feeling bad for one thing or another 24/7 percent of the time? How many are being diagnosed with depression as I write? How many people have resigned to not being worthy of anything good and so settle for less every day? Yes, devil. We give that one to you. You are indeed the world’s best mind gamer.

John 10:10 “the devil referred to as the thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy…”

This is not to make us afraid or declare defeat in advance but to be well aware who we are up against. His tactics are lies and deception, in the form of the most vicious mind game. Don’t get it twisted this may look like a game at first but really is an attack set on destroying your whole being by all means necessary. This is not a message of fear but encouragement. For us to win we are to know the truth which is the word of God.

James 4:7 tells us “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

In 1 Peter 5:8-9 we are advised to “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.”

I do not write this because I have won the war. Nope sometimes I am down and live to fight another day. The fighting goes on as I soldier on. Today I am calling on all the soldiers out there. Where you at? Put on your armour

Ephesians 6:11-17 “Put on the whole armor of God,that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God,that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace …”

To all the soldiers tired of all the lies and condemnation take up your arms and let’s go to war. The next time he comes hold your arms up and say confidently “Let’s play”.
